Tackle shops
Licences for fresh water fishing in the Valencia area can be obtained with a wait of up to 3 weeks from one of the 2 main fishing tackle shops in our area—These are:
EURO PESCA 2000 - Avenida De Los Palacias Formentera [Rojales].
TORRE PESCA - Playa del Acequion Torrevieja [by the beach].
NTT Baits and Tackle - Torrevieja
These tackle shops will get licences for you for a fee (around 8 - 10 euros). It would be wise to contact them before you go as the procedure and the information they need changes regularly.
Other tackle shops in other cities may also offer this service.
Alicante
PLEASE NOTE. At the last visit there were notices saying you needed an appointment to get your licence, and one of our members was turned away because although he'd made an appointment he didn't print the confirmation. To do this:
Go to www.gva.es/es/inicio/atencion_ciudadano/buscadores, select tramites y servicios.
In 'Descriptión' type licencia then hit Buscar.
Select 1 - Cita previa para las licencias de caza y pesca...
Fill in the fields YOU MUST HAVE AN NIE NUMBER TO PROCEED. When completed go on to the next page where you have to select where you want to go (you can only go to Alicante), a date and time range. Having done this, the next page will display a choice of times for you to select from.
You can then go to the office in Alicante which is at Servico Territorial de Medio Ambiente, Alicante. This is at Calle Profesor Manuel Sala, 4 and is not far from the bus station, railway station and the harbour. The building has several flags flying outside.
You need a copy of your NIE and passport, you can down load a form below or just pick one up in the office.
Pilar de Horadada Town Hall
We have recently received the following information from Mel Bettell, thanks Mel, about getting a Valencian licence from Pilar de Horadada town hall (correct as of 11th May 2017).
All the staff I interacted with in the Ayuntamiento were helpful.
Along with the 2 application forms, I took my passport & NIE plus copies. None of the copies were kept!
Enter the Ayuntamiento. Lifts are straight in front behind the stairs. Go to the Medio Ambiente office on the 3rd floor. Large round office by the stairs. Office closes at 14.30. Anna checks your details and enters them onto the PC, prints out 3 x “Modelo 046” forms for payment at the bank. Go to La Caixa bank, 50m on the right from the Ayuntamiento entrance. Cost for 3 years is €28.56 Forms are stamped. Back to the Ayuntamiento.
In the foyer on the right hand side, take a ticket from the queue numbering system, you need button number 1 - Registro de Documentos. Wait to be called then present the 2 copies of your application and the stamped modelo 046. More info is entered onto the PC. You are then given a bar coded copy of the above forms as your receipt. The licence card should be sent to your home address from Alicante.
Once I had found the right office, the process took about 1 hour.
Denia
We have recieved the following information from a member who lives further north in the region:
You can get your license (freshwater or sea) from the MAPA office Denia, next door to San Carlos Hospital. No fee charged, just the cost of licence. It's sent to you on-line in about two days, just down load and print. The people working there are the most helpful people I've come across in any government office.
We have been advised that non-residents should take copies of their NIE number if they have one, their passport and the application form. They should also have their original passport in their possession to show, if asked. If you have to pay, they will give you documents to take to a local bank (there are several near the offices). Once paid, you then return to the Prop office with your receipt and you will be given the licence. The licence is obtainable for one or three years . The cost for one year at the moment (2017) is 10.20€ and for three years 28.56€. But it is free to over 67's who have a State Pension and live in the Valencia region.
THE LATEST INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE MEDIO AMBIENTE IN ALICANTE CONCERNING GETTING A LICENCE FOR VISITORS TO THE VALENCIA PROVINCE IS THAT TO GET A LICENCE YOU MUST HAVE A NIE NUMBER. THESE CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE VARIOUS EMBASSY OFFICES IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY
Please make sure that you take photocopies of all your relevant documents with you.
Please note: If you wish to apply for a pensioners licence you MUST take proof of this entitlement with you.
Below is the Word document for the"Valencian Licence Application Form" which must be completed and taken with you when applying for a licence. Simply click on the text in blue "Download File", below, to get the document.

HOW TO GET A FRESH WATER FISHING LICENCE FOR MURCIA
This is more difficult to obtain than a Valencia Licence as it must be done in person.
In the first instance you must be in possession of a certificate of fishing insurance. This can be obtained from Mapfre, Axa and some other insurance companies.
You then go to the Town Hall [Ayuntamiento] in San Pedro de Pinatar, which is the first town in Murcia going down the N332. It is believed that some other town halls in the region will do this service for you also.
The licence in Murcia is for 1 or 5 years and the cost of a 5 year one is 76 Euros (2016).
You will need to take with you copies of your Residencia or NIE number, passport and the original one and a copy of your fishing insurance.
Free licences for the over 67s are only available for residents of MURCIA
Please note: If you wish to apply for a pensioners licence you MUST take proof of this entitlement with you.
If you have to pay for the licence the town hall will give you a form to take to a local bank to pay. Your licence is not legal until you have paid and the bank has stamped it. We have recently been told that at some banks you can make the payment at the cash machine but make sure you staple the receipt to the form.
Please make sure that you take photocopies of all your relevant documents with you.
The above information can be viewed as a PDF file, so that it can be printed out when needed. (NB: although it says "Download File", it is in fact a readable PDF file that you can download or print from within the window that opens.)
When downloaded, or saved to your desktop if you prefer - directly from the page, you can easily return to Carp-R-Us by using the return arrow on your browser menu. Thank you.

LICENCE FOR CASTILLA-LA MANCHA
Or member, Dave Hazell has provided the following information.
I am still pursuing how to get a licence which is more complicated for the age of 65 and above as it has to be done in person at a government office (to get it for free). I have written to a couple of government offices in Albacete and Hellin to try and get details of the procedure and requirements. For under 65’s it’s fairly easy with on-line application and payment. The link for this is below.
